I obtained it March 2011 (along with a ton of horror VHS) from my local Goodwill. I didn't see it until the third time I checked it out of the library May 2012. Funnily, I wasn't scared. I think I've seen so many slashers that it is hard for any to scare me. Now, it is a good movie, and last Friday (the 13th), I bought almost the entire series for $16 (hooray cheap 4-packs!). If that doesn't show I liked it, nothing does.Vader the Whitehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00220366772061668415noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5110147752122772426.post-58979636244034729872010-03-29T06:34:40.179-07:002010-03-29T06:34:40.179-07:00I agree, when I first saw this movie, I thought Ti...I agree, when I first saw this movie, I thought Tina was the heroine!
My fav Nightmare are 1,3,4 and New NightmareAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5110147752122772426.post-91060681390920390882010-03-28T14:52:37.775-07:002010-03-28T14:52:37.775-07:00i think... and dont quote me on it, but i DO think...i think... and dont quote me on it, but i DO think this was the first horror movie i ever saw, and not on purpose-- i slept over my cousins' and we all watched it even though i was younger and of course it terrified me to death. years later that first movie still holds up-- "there is no god here."

dream warriors is jeffs fave, and i think new nightmare may be mine. <3Miss Kolleenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06606373833828939892noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5110147752122772426.post-71876640118014299352010-03-27T19:03:03.752-07:002010-03-27T19:03:03.752-07:00I just have to say, Dream Warriors really is by fa...I just have to say, Dream Warriors really is by far the best Nightmare. And they apparently really beat the shit out of Tina's actor in the wall-crawling scene, so that should be entertaining.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5110147752122772426.post-35482127908467032492010-03-25T09:59:37.868-07:002010-03-25T09:59:37.868-07:00I never really liked the dream power element they ...I never really liked the dream power element they introduced in Dream Warriors. It kind of killed some of the suspense for me at least, hence why the original is still my favourite. I probably prefer Part 2 to 3 as well, as I thought the central idea was quite a creepy one. I need to watch them all again before the new one comes out.

The only one I never really liked was Freddy's Dead. It was just... terrible. It was probably the lowest point in terms of kills too, I can't even remember more than two of them.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5110147752122772426.post-26100502059411510822010-03-25T09:52:20.645-07:002010-03-25T09:52:20.645-07:00I like your perspective on remakes. Obviously the remakes will keep happening no matter how much people complain, so it's worthwhile to just get over it and allow yourself to enjoy some of them. It seems like a lot of people's attitudes changed after the Dawn of the Dead remake.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5110147752122772426.post-18362326893584232682010-03-25T07:58:30.714-07:002010-03-25T07:58:30.714-07:00I agree, Craven has a hard-on for gear up scenes. ...I agree, Craven has a hard-on for gear up scenes. At least she was reading into it this time and just didn't have this knowledge of setting up booby traps. Also, did you think Nightmare 4 when you saw the new trailer? Nancy is a loner now, who works at a dinner? "Earth to Alice...." anyone?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5110147752122772426.post-21829875995826606032010-03-24T20:35:03.013-07:002010-03-24T20:35:03.013-07:00For a kid whom rarely had the opportunity to see t...For a kid whom rarely had the opportunity to see this movie, I was sure obsessed with it. I actually got my hands on a paperback adaptation of the first three films. I definitely studied that more than my scriptures. Ha!

Anyway, for the most part, part three was the best made film, but the most enduring was the first. I also think it's the most effectively scary and funny. "Hey Nancy! No running in the hall!" Tina in the body bag haunted me for years. And puree Depp was one of the all time great effects. But watching the end in slo-mo sure takes off some of the shock factor (it's way better than any of the alternate endings, though.

I was always fascinated by the very basic back story for Freddy. Not necessarily the Amanda Krueger part which surfaced in the squeals, but just the idea that Fred Krueger walked around in a non supernatural world and murdered little kids. That's scarier then the burned guy wreaking havoc in dreams. I always thought a completely mundane and grounded flesh out of that story would be fascinating. But I never expect it to happen due to the dreamscape element being kind of... central to... everything about the movie. Anyway, the trailer for the new one hints at a little bit of that and the idea of turning Freddy into a completely serious (I don't really see Rorschach cracking jokes) character supports the possibility of that. Grounding of the character in an alternate reality (ala Zombie's Halloween) is the only good reason to remake this classic. Still, I'm pretty sure it's going to suck. But a guy can hope.Miskatonichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10458189434988263478noreply@blogger.com
