Having a car might allow you to go and get help but it won't magically make help come to you (becuase you know the nearest house is miles away). So not so silly lines after all really.Red_Cardinalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12119321537913665046noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5110147752122772426.post-12750277455635854512015-09-17T12:27:06.921-07:002015-09-17T12:27:06.921-07:00Just watched it, liked it very much. Still gripping, though.

Horror/drama is probably my favorite "crossover" between genres. Very few movies can pull it off, unfortunately. The Sixth Sense is one that comes to mind. The horror element is inevitably toned down (as was the case in The Haunting), but it is well worth it.Augustinianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04178412157475414461noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5110147752122772426.post-30947688821897186322013-02-22T13:22:48.512-08:002013-02-22T13:22:48.512-08:00They atmosphere and one liners are the reasons I l...They atmosphere and one liners are the reasons I liked this movie and hated the remake. Black and white made the shadows creepier. The acting was typical for the time when it was made. The undertones added interest to the storyline. I also appreciated that it didn't have a traditionally happy ending.

Don't forget that: "No one can hear you scream in the dark. No one will hear you or come to help you in the dark." Apparently, sound waves don't travel at night, nor do car work after sun down. Okay. Those were some of the worst movie lines ever, but memorable in a ridiculous way.

Overall this is a movie classic worth checking out, in my opinion.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16711466717985830395noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5110147752122772426.post-47841887327894626162009-11-29T04:59:41.418-08:002009-11-29T04:59:41.418-08:00I never liked "The Haunting" -- remake o...I never liked "The Haunting" -- remake or no. I haven't been scared by a horror movie since I saw Frank Langella's "Dracula" on TV when I was 8 years old.

Since then, I watch horror movies for their atmosphere, and while there were some interesting parts, I found this movie to be a bit boring and I never found the characters really interesting.

But that isn't to say that I don't recognize the elements which make it a classic in the eyes of many people. It is a well-made and well-crafted film.hitfanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03585339553144825190noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5110147752122772426.post-59619713529663207562009-11-28T06:41:01.709-08:002009-11-28T06:41:01.709-08:00That film actually creeped me right the hell out, ...That film actually creeped me right the hell out, the scene with the crying and the banging on the walls?
