(Of course, I like a lot of his other movies too and also think that Rabid is fairly awful, and more or less a not-as-interesting version of Shivers.)Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03193327473580722675noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5110147752122772426.post-76730728239778309102010-02-01T08:50:18.706-08:002010-02-01T08:50:18.706-08:00Ugh, Crash. The biggest problem is definitely the lead. He's so realistic looking that you almost believe he's not made of wood! That said, I still find it to be a lot of fun. Even his first two films out of the gate, SHIVERS and RABID, are more interestingly done, and better acted. The lead in SCANNERS is so poor he ruins the rest of it. I love all his other stuff though, CRASH included. I even think he's reaching an all-time high with his recent non-genre dramas. Will Erricksonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16285306262078600804noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5110147752122772426.post-41932556233616459082010-01-26T12:23:28.477-08:002010-01-26T12:23:28.477-08:00I seem to have a problem with killer kid movies be...I seem to have a problem with killer kid movies because I can't see them as a serious threat at all and like you said with Scanners, Cronenberg doesn't give any kind of humor to the situation so it makes it even harder to accept. They looked creepy and all but meh.

I agree though The Fly is just great and is permanently sandwiched between Shivers and my all time favorite of all time Cronenberg film, Videodrome.AD Veenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5110147752122772426.post-48425410922772312452010-01-26T11:56:38.295-08:002010-01-26T11:56:38.295-08:00No way, I love The Brood!!! ...Yeah, Crash was terrible! I hated Matt Dillon.

Just kidding. Actually I liked Cronenberg's Crash for how uncomfortable it made me feel plus the whole idea of crashing being a fetish was strangely interesting.

As for Scanners I hold a special place for the film because it was my introduction to Cronenberg way back when. I think Scanners' biggest fault is that it just hasn't aged well for todays audiences and their expectations. Especially all you kids with your flashy FX and rapid fire editing!
But seriously, it's better than The Brood. Now THAT was a boring, underwhelming film and my least favorite of Cronenberg's work.AD Veenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5110147752122772426.post-23309468968096972262010-01-25T22:03:12.007-08:002010-01-25T22:03:12.007-08:00Crash is just a boring, pointless film.Crash is just a boring, pointless film.BChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06480847497966171794noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5110147752122772426.post-35831287651680447732010-01-25T20:54:41.385-08:002010-01-25T20:54:41.385-08:00Haven't seen this one.
