I really wanted to like it, too. I mean, it had Angus SCRIMM in it and, he was truly the highlight of the film, and as you said, the only actor that seemed to try. I did like the librarian's mousey character though.

I can't help but wonder if the guy who played Rick pulled out halfway through and this is why things got even more confusing than they started out. They may have had to work around the void left by his character. The movie really does seem like it zig-zagged off into a different direction than was originally intended. What do you think?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5110147752122772426.post-43112090289091245842008-05-15T15:32:00.000-07:002008-05-15T15:32:00.000-07:00Yes! Many a poor crab was dug up from those rocks and kept in a pail until it died. I also used to like going a bit even further down to an inlet that would be quite deadly when the tide would come in. We have many old family videos of body-surfing around those rocks...

And yeah, last time I went to OOB I was a bit saddened to see how much was gone. Palace Playland was like the only 'old' arcade still open, and all the fun games were shoved to the back (except skeeball, obviously) while the front room was all racing/shooting simulators. *sigh*

Didn't know that the rocks had a name though, interesting.BChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06480847497966171794noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5110147752122772426.post-15036084632128708102008-05-15T13:50:00.000-07:002008-05-15T13:50:00.000-07:00Funny reading this after enjoying a huge fried cla...Funny reading this after enjoying a huge fried clam feast from Ken's Place, an Old Orchard landmark since the twenties. If you haven't been there for a while you'll be sad to know that some of the old honky-tonky atmosphere has been condominiumized away; still, the rides, the pier fries and the skee-ball remain. Sadly the surf shop where I used to read issues of Creepy and Eerie in the 60's is now gone.

Hey, I don't know if you remember a spot on the beach (up a ways from the midway but in walking distance) where there are a cluster of large rocks that can be climbed on at low tide... these are known as Googins' Rocks, site where the Googins family was killed by Indians back during colonial days. Quite haunted.

DLRAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
