At first, I did not...A good re-telling of the tale. At first, I did not believe it was, in fact, true regardless of the disclaimer. I did some research. It was disturbing, alarming, and intriguing.

In my opinion, they should have cut the female lead scenes entirely. She added very little in the beginning, and then cries in shock and horror at the end. It does not make any sense. In all of her research did she just forget what happened to those 2 men. Why is she so broken down after the film? Did she even turn her paper in? Did she get her PhD?

Secondly, how could she defend her actions? Normal students do not usually engage in the following. WTF? Seriously?

1. Stalking an occupied grade school; and getting tossed out.
2. Stalking the family homes of these two men, and taking way too many pictures.
A. She crossed over barricades.
B. She breaks windows.
C. After the B&E, she sleeps overnight in the cannibal's house.
It isn't award winning acting on her part. It seemed forced and unnecessary. (I liked "Felicity" just not here.)

Once the viewer gets past the superfluous narrator character and her idiosyncrasies, the story can really get started. The Willing Victim and Cannibal were believable characters, even though they were outlandish. Neither of them were happy, in a conventional way. (They had some seriously messed up childhoods, too.) At least on the internet they can look for a way to defeat the soul crushing loneliness that each feels.

I thought that certain scenes showed the sympathy, compassion, and humanity hidden inside of the cannibal. He actually drove people back to the station when they quit or just wanted out.

He had a softer approach with his actual victim. He tried to live up to the victims expectations. Unfortunately it was untenable. He had to kill him first because he cared. The mercy killing before the cutting came across in a visceral way for me. I sensed what he was doing and understood why he could no go through with it while his willing victim lived.

Wikipedia says that the actual cannibal turned vegetarian while in prison. I am a vegetarian as well. Although, I have never wanted to eat people or animals.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5110147752122772426.post-12947819100419701802010-09-21T06:42:18.105-07:002010-09-21T06:42:18.105-07:00Armin Meiwes, you freak, you. I've known his story for a while now and have been wanting to see Grimm Love but it doesn't seem to be available EVER.

Pay no attention to Anonymous's quote - Cannibal is a horrible film. Horribly made, horribly scripted (there is seriously no dialogue until about 20 minutes in), horribly acted. No substance whatsoever, but just a straightforward account of what Meiwes said happened when he killed Bernd Brandes.Michele (TheGirlWhoLovesHorror)https://www.blogger.com/profile/03309044766117909683noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5110147752122772426.post-50422236079798151462010-09-20T19:20:30.678-07:002010-09-20T19:20:30.678-07:00There is another movie based on this same story ca...There is another movie based on this same story called 'Cannibal' directed by Marian Dora which is a well made film but brutal at the same time.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
