Fact is, you DON'T need to be a follower of the X-Files to understand the movie. I didn't know who William was either, but I was able to follow the movie just fine. Besides, at one point he's refered to as "our child" so I don't think it's that hard to follow. You can't fault a continuation of a TV show for throwing in a few bones for the faithful. Mulder also mentioned Luther Lee Bogs, does that mean if you haven't seen Beyond the Sea you're going to be confused? I doubt it.

In fact, one of the things that annoyed me about the movie (besides the fact that it's a poor sequel/followup/ripoff of Beyond the Seas) is that it was TOO standalone.

My hope is that it does OK at the box office and well on DVD so we can get another movie...maybe written by Vince Gilligan or Glen Morgan and James Wong and NOT directed by Carter.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5110147752122772426.post-56150364107741237522008-07-30T07:19:00.000-07:002008-07-30T07:19:00.000-07:00BC there are a number of things I agree with you a...BC there are a number of things I agree with you about, mainly that this could have been so much better. A story like "Detour", "Bad Blood" or "Patience" are the type of story I was hoping they would tell here. I did enjoy seeing Mulder and Scully on screen again and their scenes together were great.

I would agree that if this episode would have been a regular show in the season it wouldn't be the best, but that being said I don't know if there was ever a "bad" X-files episode and this was still enjoyable, but for a movie that we've been waiting years to see it was a little disappointing. The Fiji Mermaidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09923336176731259047noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5110147752122772426.post-28992525686653665432008-07-29T20:10:00.000-07:002008-07-29T20:10:00.000-07:00hey BC....I stopped watching this show after seaso...hey BC....I stopped watching this show after season 3 of 4 i think...mostly because my parents moved on and i was 2 young to know any better...The thing that pissed me off is this...HOW MANY TIMES DID THE STUDIO SAY "if you are not a fan of the show its ok you'll still understand the movie"...I call BS...because i knew about his sister...but i had no idea who william was...as for the climax...agreed..there wasnt one...total BS again....The dialogue was good and all..but it felt more like a LIFETIME movie with scully trying to save the kid...i just wish they wouldnt have played this off like a Scary movie..because there wasnt anything scary about it....I think David was upset with how the movie played out and i really hope they come back and make another one to redeem this one...kinda like the hulk...this can be the bastard child and will be hidden away and never mentioned again...hmmmm....until that day..i will watch californication and continue to laugh at what Mulder does to screw up his life.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5110147752122772426.post-47500174582662904432008-07-28T12:25:00.000-07:002008-07-28T12:25:00.000-07:00That sucks man.
