I do enjoy Eli movies, but he always cops out with a retarded jokey ending. Some films work better with a nasty ending, like Hostel 1, i dont get why he put a jokey ending with this movie and Cabin Fever.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5110147752122772426.post-90947363779941956792011-02-09T03:12:36.770-08:002011-02-09T03:12:36.770-08:00The one scene with the nerdy girl hung upside-down...The one scene with the nerdy girl hung upside-down and being cut up (I dunno, I saw it years ago) bothered me far more than anything in the original, possibly more than any of the studio torture porn coming out at the time. Also, nobody got their dick cut off in the original.

In other words, I agree with Eli that it is more violent, to a certain extent.

SHIT. I spent all this time to write a comment, then look up and realize the ONLY other commenter said the exact same thing. Whatever, you can read it anyway.Tedums the Precioushttp://twitter.com/tedums_preciousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5110147752122772426.post-16411846150160400622010-06-29T21:34:00.462-07:002010-06-29T21:34:00.462-07:00This is a wonderful review. This was very well written and it struck the balance of being faithful to the original while constructing it's own tone. I knew next to nothing when I watched both Hostels and I think it added greatly to the experience(s). I had no idea that Paxton wasn't going to be the star of this film. I was pretty relieved when he was beheaded. Not because I didn't like his character, but because filmmakers too often try to write characters into sequels who don't need to be there. I'm so glad I didn't have to see the emotional fallout from the first film (other than the extremely cliche dream sequence opening to this film).

This may not have been as gory as the first in terms of blood and body count, but I would argue that the gory scenes has more resonance to them. The blood shower left me completely numb and the de-dicking was painful on my privates. Yeooww!Miskatonichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10458189434988263478noreply@blogger.com
