Plus lots of ordinary (black) people just living their lives (longing for a good dinner, or attending a funeral.) Sigh. I am sick of having to point out such trivialities, but truly - political correctness is the collective insanity of our times. Don't buy into it, it is destructive and promotes exactly the racist mindset it purports to oppose. Don't pay it any homage.

I'd rather you cancelled that comment from your review, and my comment too... The film deserves neither. It is great and innocent fun.

P.S. I liked Renfield and his gourmet airs.

Mrry.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5110147752122772426.post-61933198273026184302012-02-15T04:53:38.283-08:002012-02-15T04:53:38.283-08:00Love this movie! I was watching it in the bedroom while my parents had friends over and turned it off after he attacked the wino because it was too scary...in other words, because I already knew about vampires, but not about anything that made up the comedic bits!Gloom Raiderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17035964693728780362noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5110147752122772426.post-82568195797602120092012-02-15T03:28:14.764-08:002012-02-15T03:28:14.764-08:00A guilty pleasure of mine. Too bad they took "I Love the Nightlife" out of the dance number on the DVD, presumably to save money. I'm not a huge fan of vampire films so the earliest recollection I have of a vampire attempting to recreate his "lost love" is Barnabas Collins (any relation???) from TV's "Dark Shadows" in the 60s (and the darker-edged 1970 feature film retelling, and the 1991 TV remake, not to mention the forthcoming feature remake). DS was known for borrowing plots so if it wasn't their idea I wouldn't be surprised.Riccardohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09646291351417926016noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5110147752122772426.post-26884349059324836022012-02-14T16:12:35.675-08:002012-02-14T16:12:35.675-08:00I think I saw this on a double bill with "9 t...I think I saw this on a double bill with "9 to 5," so it wasn't thought of as horror even then.
