This was a GREAT, really funny review overall, and I now love your remark about the guy who forgets his wife's birthday. Classic.

Considering some of them I haven't seen since their theatrical run, my memory is far from perfect, and some things you bring up such as Rigg's innocence do strike me as something that should have bothered me if I couldn't get over Dagen in 7. I'm gonna chalk at least some of it up to simple amnesia on my part - and the fact that all these middle of the pack Saw sequels reeeally bleed together for me.

For all I know it did in fact annoy me, and I've just since forgotten this fact. As surely as I couldn't tell you which film actually introduces Hoffman as a major player, but that I really enjoyed the climax involving him and a sealed glass box.

I'm still waiting on a pretty, complete box set release of all these films so I can buy it and re-view them all together, in the process remembering and forming more concrete opinions about the less-memorable individual films.Keelee von Cupcakenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5110147752122772426.post-80199072818666302982007-11-02T22:34:00.000-07:002007-11-02T22:34:00.000-07:00I did watch the previous three films, and still ha...I did watch the previous three films, and still had no idea what the hell was going on by the end of it. They're getting to the point where the viewer is forced to suddenly care about characters that had previously been peripheral afterthoughts. I'm sure it will only get more confounding from here...B-Solhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10717121313061173603noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5110147752122772426.post-41810134856470031202007-10-29T22:33:00.000-07:002007-10-29T22:33:00.000-07:00I don't disagree that the "Saw" films reward the a...I don't disagree that the "Saw" films reward the audience by watching all of the films, and they do have a nice continuity to them. However, this was proof positive how far they are reaching at this point.

While the opening sequence was impressive visually and with some great F/X, what a waste of your budget when you consider how unecessary the scene is. Riggs is also the least interesting of the lead characters in all of the films. It's not even all of his fault, but the fact that they go stretches in the film without even showing him, when he pops back up I had almost forgotten about him.

The 90 minute time clock was nice, but they ended up shooting themselves in the face with it due to the fact that all of this shit couldn't have been done in the time frame given. We've got Riggs going all over town, and suspects being brought in for what seems like well over an hour and a half of questioning. Not like there's a clock ticking down, people, let's get Jigsaw's wife in here.

I have no problem with the open ending like in the previous films, but this one is kind of a cheat. Showing characters in flashbacks where they didn't exist previously is annoying enough, and the identity of the accomplice is only suprising if you've never seen an episode of "Law and Order" or "CSI" before. If you recognize the actor/actress, guess what?

I'm not saying it's terrible; compared to the other films it might be the best installment, visually. However, I don't think calling it the most pointless is too far of a stretch.Jonathanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09548468568645800735noreply@blogger.com
