Before reading any of the "reviews", you should read the intro, the FAQ, the MOVIES I HAVE ALREADY SEEN list, and if you want, the glossary of genre terms and "What is Horror?", which explains some of the "that's not horror!" entries. There is also a handy recommendation thread that you can use to post suggestions for movies. And to keep things clean, all off topic posts are re-dated to be in JANUARY 2007 (which was before I began doing this little project) once they have 'expired' (i.e. are 10 days old).
Due to many people commenting "I have to see this movie!" after a review, I have decided to add Amazon links within the reviews (they are located at the bottom), as well as a few links to the Horror Movie A Day Store around the page, hopefully non-obstructively. Amazon will also automatically link things they find relevant, so there might be a few random links in a review as well. If they become annoying, I'll remove the functionality. Right now I'm just kind of amused what they come up with (for example, they highlighted 'a horror movie' in the middle of one review and it links to, of all things, the 50 Chilling Movies Budget Pack!!!).
Last but not least, some reviews contain spoilers (NOTE - With a few exceptions, anything written on the back of the DVD or that occurs less than halfway through the movie I do NOT consider a spoiler). I will be adding 'spoiler alerts' for these reviews as I go through and re-do the older reviews (longtime readers may notice that there is now a 'show more' which cleaned up the main page, as well as listing the source of the movie I watched, i.e. Theaters, DVD, TV) to reflect the new format. This is time consuming, so bear with me.
Thanks for coming by and be sure to leave comments, play nice, and as always, watch Cathy's Curse.

Very cool blog, I have a blog for whenever I see a movie I've never seen before, I review it, you should check it out.
ok i cannot say anything unbless know something about it
Great post! I love horror movies. I'm skeptical about the Halloween remake
Just wait till you've seen... that skeptical feeling will be replaced by one of total and complete misery...
......i got one......the fearless vampire killers.....aka......dance of the vampires......1967 with roman polanski and sharon tate.....it's a great one.....funny too.
I reviewed that one back in May or June. Great minds think alike I guess! Good movie, uneven, but good.
Hi BC,
Just discovered your blog this afternoon via Blogger's "Blogs of Note" feature. Horror Movie A Day is the first blog they've mentioned I've actually spent more than two minutes exploring. I like your style. And obviously I dig horror films too.
My first? Food of the Gods. I think I was ten or eleven. Haven't seen it since. Next was Jaws then One Dark Night with Meg Tilly and then Nightmare on Elm Street.
I enjoyed reading your review of Ginger Snaps, which I discovered a year ago via Bitch Magazine, which championed the movie as feminist horror.
I'd like to read what you think of Feast, which was the last horror film I saw that pissed me off (other than the remake of Hills Have Eyes 2, simply because it was terible.)
Also, have you seen/reviewed I Spit on Your Grave? I didn't see it in your reape/revenge category, and really I thought it was the original in the genre. No?
Anyway, thanks again. I'll add Horror Movie A Day to my blog roll and will be back to read more reviews.
Peace.
I have never seen Spit... the DVD is always like 30 bucks. I have a cap of 10 for a movie I haven't seen.
I dig Feast a lot but it needs to be seen with a crowd. When I watch it at home i get kind of bored because it's so nonstop (i know that sounds odd but its true - need to build up to something). But with a crowd, everyone cheering and yelling, it's a masterpiece. Still pissed Dumbension dumped it the way they did. Oh well.
It's been a while since I've seen a horror movie. They don't make them like they use to.
Congrats on becoming a blog of note, BC!
Oh yeah, noticed you're Meat Loaf Jim Steinman fan. I have 3 of their music videos on my blog with lyrics. Thought you would like to know.
Have a nice weekend!
Loaf and Steinman together create a force so powerful not even God himself could stop it. Sadly they won't work together anymore. But Steinman reads (or has read) this very blog, which is pretty much all the validation I ever needed!
Cool! Maybe he'll like my blog, nothing but music videos. Designed the template myself, but it still needs some work.
I love the concept and I'm a huge horror movie buff BC. A horror movie a day? Dayum! That is commitment. Now on to the archives. Here's a horror flick for you: How about, Mothers Day? the closing scene with Queenie jumping out from behind the brush has still stuck with me all these years.
I've added this site to my blogroll. I plan to be back again and again! C you soon. And you've got to hit the people with a comic con review. I've got mine up on my site. lata!
As if you don't get enough... here are some suggestions... Also, I don't promise that they are good movies... But I love crappy horror, so what do I know!
Orgy of the Dead
Stage Ghost
Horror Hotel
Slaughter High
Enjoy!
Slaughter High rules! Poor Marty...
PLEASE don't do this to yourself any longer!
Okay, I think you might be a long lost brother of mine. :-) 1. I'm a Pisces. 2. I loooove horror movies. 3. *Halloween* is my favorite horror movie. 4. I heart Stephen Colbert and watch him religiously.
Great blog!! Looking forward to reading all of your posts. I have you linked off of my blog, www.notliableforyourstupidity.blogspot.com. I just watched *The Messengers* tonight and thought it blew.
Lawgirl
Oh, and I saw *I Spit On Your Grave* when I was 12 or 13...it really wasn't a horror movie. More like a soft porn.
Lawgirl
Hahaha Messengers... when we saw it and the two guys started brokebacking out I lost it, and after a few min the whole theater was laughing. great time. can't remember a damn thing about the movie anymore now.
Good Lord, it was so bad I didn't even notice that. It had such a fantastic cast - really, how did it go wrong???

This is a fascinating idea. I admire your persistence and dedication!
So you seem to be an interesting person. I read some of your blogs. You really seem to know what your doing. Wanna help me out?!?!
=]
Sure, but only because the name of your blog is a Nine Days lyric. :)
hi
nice to meet u
Did you put on disburbia?
For some reason I didn't do it (watched another movie the day I saw it). Maybe if I watch it again. It was OK, nothing special. Wasn't really horror until the last 10 min or so when the guy basically turned into Michael Myers. Even had the same jumpsuit!
Have you seen the movie "Cannibal Holocaust"??That's the scariest movie I've ever seen and I hate cannibal freakin' films (except hannibals)...hehe nice blog!!keep it up!!c",)
Yes, I saw it last year on a double bill with... blah, one of the Fulci ones. Gates of Hell i think. Anyway, I loved it. I had the DVD in my hand last night but 30 bucks is out of my price range... the budget pack has forever spoiled me.
I have searched awhile ago in imdb.com that there's a remake of the film "cannibal holocaust" and it will be open in the year 2009.
As a horror movie addict, what's your scariest movie of all time??
I never really picked one... some that freaked me out are Blair Witch, Halloween obviously, and actually Mothman Prophecies. Then some others provided great jump scares - the first Scream, Halloween 5 when I first saw it (11 years old), the Ring, and Hatchet. But really, I don't get scared easily from movies.
Great blog!
On may 3, you mention the movie The Boogey Man. You put it in nice perspective. It was the first horror movie I ever saw and for years it scared me terribly. Silly, eh? Strange how a little bit of broken mirror can affect emotion.
Sincerely,
Anon

I have a question about a movie I just watched yesterday by Clive Barker called "The Plague". It stars James Van Der Berk(sp) and 80s icon Dee Wallace Stone of "ET" and "The Howling" fame. My question is why the kids stopped their killing rampage/soul sucking after getting their hands on James Van Der what's his name? I know it had something to do with him being a willing victim, but wasn't the Mom (aka Dee Wallace Stone)a willing victim to her daughter first since she released the daughter by untying her hands? I am so confused.
Your blog is excellent! We should link up. If your ever bored and would like to read a interesting story check out my blog "Curious Read" @

BRIAN, ITS BLACKSNAKE...YOU NEED TO SEE WHAT I AND LIKE 10 OTHER FRIENDS OF MINE CONSIDER TO BE THE WORST MOVIE EVER MADE..."INSEMINOID" WHICH IS ALSO KNOWN AS "HORROR PLANET".
CHECK IT OUT...IT REALLY IS PRACTICALLY UNWATCHABLE. SORTA LIKE ARMEGEDDON.
AT LEAST YOU AND I WILL ALWAYS HAVE "RIDING WITH DEATH" TO AGREE ON!
Did you ever watch Sleepaway Camp all the way through? I would enjoy BC reflections on Dan Tursi and James Paradise.
I figure by now I had to have seen the whole thing, but I guess I should watch it in one sitting. I understand it can drive a man to murder though...
Very impressive! Not too many folks have the balls to even attempt watching such direct-to-DVD fare as "The Pumpkin Karver" ...at least not intentionally!
You should join us over at DVDTalk.com for The 3rd Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" -- where instead of watching one horror movie per day throughout the year, we try and cram as many as possible into just one month.

I'll be doing 2 a day for October... 1 new to me, 1 old that i never reviewed. since some folks have been asking what i think about evil dead or psycho or whatever. ill stop on by the forum though, thanks!
Hi, I am just wondering how did you make the blog header's it's very cool and another question, the amazon store thing behind the header..what's the code of that too?
Thanks
The banner is just something I did in photoshop... the amazon stuff you need to sign up for their associates program and then they'll give you all the codes you'll need automatically.
I like this blog! I found out that I missed alot of horror films nowadays. Good luck!

Next week some buddies of mine are getting together to watch some horror flicks. My number one recommendation was A Nightmare on Elm Street 1. It doesn't get much better than that!

It's too bad to see the October extras end, there was some great fun there. I think it should be an infrequent feature here. Maybe you could devote Sundays or something to a movie you've seen before. What say you?
Perhaps... at least try to always double up on Sunday. I don't want to start getting lazy :)
Great site! May I recommend the movie Fido? I just posted a review of it over on my blog, The Vault of Horror.
Gah, freaky! I am watching it now. They are cleaning the car and the dad hit the kid with his golf bag, lol.
Hey. Nice blog. ;)
this is a pretty good blog, very similar to my own! Feel free to check it out!
it`s a wonderful blog! ... I invite you to read my newest blog .. a review on NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN

You bet!
This is an extraordinary blog. The time you have taken to give such extensive horror movie reviews is just mind boggling.
and yes your blog title rocks. Too much blood spluttered, but again, its never a horror without blood, is there.
also visit my blog for links to online movies for free
Keep it going
Its good to see a movie blogger. My first website was kind of like this.
I have a website too, but about watching animes free online.
Hi... i love your site....
This is a great site for horror lovers...
Btw, if you are interested to watch others genre of online movies, visit this site :

What are your thoughts on past and present horror television shows? By the way love your blog. If it is possible you should put in a search option because I'm always looking for a particular movie review but can never find it.
I really like Supernatural... and I am looking forward to Fear Itself. I also really dug a show called Haunted with Matthew Fox that aired in like 2002. Didn't last long but reruns air on HDNet sometimes.
As for the search - top left corner of the page, there should be a search bar. It's a bit clunky but it should turn up anything i've reviewed (I use it a lot, to link old reviews)
Thanks. I must scroll right past it when ever I visit your blog. I like Supernatural too. What's gonna happen to Dean!?
i love this blog! keep up good works. See you again..
Hello, this site is nice!!

nice blog. I started a similar minded blog but not with just horror movies though horror is my favorite.
Good Blog
'God Told Me To' is another Larry Cohen gem. Also, it features a young, pre death, Andy Kaufman as a cop assassin. In addition, there's an alien abduction plot that reminded me of the X-files. The flashbacks were amazing. May have influenced Cronenberg.
Hey, man -- I just discovered your blog, and I love it! I can tell I'm gonna be spending a lot of time on this site . . . .
Sent you a MySpace Friend Request too, BTW.
Keep up the killer work!

Hey have you seen Nekromantik? one STRANGE movie.
your poll expired, just informing you incase you want to change it.
This seems to be a little bit like the blog that I started recently (just click my name). I notice that you also review horror movies from the 50 movie mega packs of which I am a big fan.
Keep up the good work.
What's your opinion of American Werewolf in London ? Perhaps you wouldn't regard it as a 'proper' horror movie ?
Hi, i'a a newbie in movie reviews rating. I tried making some reviews of my own i hope they pass beyond your standard, please visit and leave your constructive criticisms regarding my work
Hey hey,
It's me Sleepyweasel here. I don't play many video games anymore, damn being an adult!
But I did decide to pick up the new game Left 4 Dead. If there was ever a game you NEED to review this is it. It is a perfect zombie infection game...and I want to hear "What say you?" about this game.
I personally think you will enjoy this game.
hello
I have loved horror movies since John Carpenter's Vampires.
This is my favorite blog. This is my second favorite blog if you are into the news too than they have photos of sexy CNN and Fox news anchors:

Awesome blog. Your writing is quite amusing and informative. Not a movie, but you ought check out the radio program The Rick Emerson Show. He talks a lot about low grade horror films as well as tv, games, news and the show is hilarious. His personal faves Killer Klowns from Outer Space and Silent Night Deadly Night. Shows free on itunes.
Thanks for the recs... Esp liked baby's room

Sorry but you're review for the halloween remake sucked. sorry but your credibility is lost bro. find another hobby.
Yes, clearly your (or, using your version of the English language, "you're" or "you are") disagreement with one of my nearly 1000 reviews means I should find another hobby. Excellent insight, Mr. Ymous.
Your blog is ridiculously awesome. Check out our little operation, reviewing anything and everything horror movie related.

BC - I spend more time reading through your reviews than working on my thesis! Seriously, thanks for sharing this labour of love.
Also, regarding the 4/16 comment from Anonymous: I love it when people jeopardize their intentions with poor grammar. Reminds me of a sign our HOA board put up at the poolhouse:
"dont leav door unloked it will not shut it self"
sighCheers!
Just spent the last month reading back until I'd read every review. Excellent site BC..You totally hooked me on your reviews..
Holy shit! That's dedication sir/madam, thank you. Forgive all the ones from 2007 that are short (or missing entirely)... site's sort of morphed into a different style.
Nice blog. I like.
You should look at my blog.
I'm starving to death and could use some clicks on some ads.
No, really. I have no food and no job. This blog is all I have.
Click on some ads. For me?
I love you forever?
I review movies too.
Check it out. Please?
Pretty please?
Thanks.
hello... hapi blogging... have a nice day! just visiting here....
I also recommend moving to see the movie blog, this blog does not talk about talk shows ... ... Cinematografica theme written and made by filmmakers and film lovers for film.

.. thanks for the space;)
This is very good stuff, but also scary. I normally do not see scary movies because my parents won't let me because they give me nightmares.
I hope you will check out my blog. I also review movies and consider myself the best movie reviewer in the world. It will only be a short time when I begin to get the accolades I deserve.
If you don't believe me you should. www.skippyharris.com

Hi BC,
Just wanted to tell you that I LOVE your blog, almost as much as I love horror movies....I just finished reading all your reviews going back to the beginning, I'm a little sad now though because I'll only have one new review to read a day instead of 20, but I guess that just leaves me more time to watch more horror movies myself :)
My netflix queue has increased exponentially because of you!!
Thanks for putting this blog up and keeping the horror torch going! I just finished all of the reviews for 2007 and I've completely fell in love with you... in a bromance sort of way. I totally look forward to 2008, 2009, and beyond!
Keep up the good work, my friend!
Dude can u save me as a link on your blog? I started a movie blog not long ago and I am trying to get love from other bloggers. Your blog is on of the best. I have your blog as a favorites link on mine. If you could help me out I'd really appreciate it. http://hugemovienerd.blogspot.com
Hii man, I linked your blog to my links... good job ;)
what is a horror movie? you mean a definition? but different things can be scary for different people. so, we can read "what a horror is" but nevertheless it can be not a horror for us...
Maybe you should read it and have your question answered :)
Woah...Dude just blew my mind!
I just got back from the Shocker screening. What's wrong with you? That movie was complete garbage. There some neat concepts brought up but they were so poorly executed it was agony. Such a waste. That script needed a rewrite worse then the Bible. I can see why Peter Berg doesn't act anymore. I understand why most of the guests at the screening, including Wes Craven, hadn't seen the movie since it came out. It's an embarrassment. Quit wasting your life with this movie. You're going to end up alone, because no girl (or person for that matter) in their right mind would like this movie.
Fuck you.
You mean, no girl besides my wife?
P.S. Thanks for coming!!
A friend of yours recommended this site for enjoying blogs and as a fellow blogger (newly) I thoroughly enjoyed your blog on Pandorum, our opinions did differ a little, but I had no expectations going in, except that I knew that Ben Foster and Dennis Quaid would do a great job.
I will add you to the blogs that I follow.
thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanx
hey you Anonymous prick. is that why you are Anonymous? go fuck yourself! i may not agree with what bc says all the time, but that's his opinion. you maybe entitled to yours and so am i to mine! and my opinion is you are a sad genitally challenged hermaphrodite, or maybe your a cock sucker! either way leave this fucking site and stick your pc or laptop up your anally retentive ass! rant over!

Hey Brian,
I haven't read all of your reviews but I do search after I've watched a horror film. Have you seen Bachelor Party at the Bungalow of the Damned? I actually worked on it as PA, Scripty, and 2nd AC (can you tell it was low budget?). It was lots of fun to film but it was awesomely bad. I don't know if you'd agree but you should check it out for yourself. It's available on Instant Netflix. Let me know what you think. It'd be interesting to see what other people thought of it besides the people I know who worked on it (like myself). Cheers!
A friend of mine referred me to your blog, and I am totally into it! It takes a lot of dedication to devote yourself to one genre. If you're ever bored, please give my blog a glance. It's not nearly as comprehensive as yours, but it's still new. I would lve to hear what you think.
